A 27-stone (170kg) tiger has experienced root canal cure carried out following breaking a 9cm-long tooth.
Amur tiger Bagai was booked into Marwell Zoo’s in-dwelling vets just after keepers at the zoo near Winchester noticed he had tooth difficulties.
The zoo explained that, at 11 years’ previous and with identified well being disorders, anaesthetising and working on the massive cat was “a bigger-danger treatment”.
By eliminating decayed pulp and filling the cavity, the tooth was saved.
The zoo said his age and identified wellbeing situations produced anaesthetising and running on the tiger’s tooth a larger-risk process so it was significant almost everything went to plan.
Dr Elysé Summerfield-Smith, the zoo veterinarian who led the all-gals staff for the root canal operation, stated: “Staying able to function with each other, converse nicely and carry out our role to the best of our ability was important.”
Marwell explained Bagai experienced since manufactured a total restoration and was having fun with his food as soon as yet again.
